The story begins in 2005 when a guy called Stuart started a small marquee hire business in Leicestershire using the unique Capri tents (tents are simply the American and Canadian term for a marquee) to deliver a marquee option to clients who wanted something different to the standard marquees which were available at the time.
In 2009 the gradual growth of this business attracted the interest of Brian – a businessman who, already having business interests in the events market, saw the potential of the company and promptly invested in the business.
Shortly after Brian joined to head up the company he re branded the business with the now familiar name by which we are known today, 'funky tents', a name reflecting the shape of the original tents.
Over the course of the next two years, the company launched its range of funky furniture, lighting, bars, dance floors and accessories to complement the growing range of funky tent designs.
Three completely new and unique tent designs were added to the range in 2010, giving us the capacity to cater for any party, wedding, corporate event, festival or seasonal Ball. In addition to this, we announced our event venues for hire.
Exciting times awaited in 2011 as we decided it was time to look at creating our own funky tent marquee, working with tentnology of Canada the world leader in tent technology this completely new and unique tent began to take shape.
This all new tent, now christened 'Trapeze' will be rolled out for the 2012 season, so even before the season is over we are looking to the future..... follow us on the blog to keep updated on all the developments here at funky tents.
